Where is Central Austin? I think it is important to understand the perimeters of the area in which our system searches for homes. Central Austin happens to lie just North of Lady Bird Lake, also known as Town Lake, South of Research Blvd (183), East of Loop 1 (Mopac) and West of IH-35. Prices can range from $100,000 (for a small condo) to almost $9,000,000.
Downtown is of course located in Central Austin as well as the University of Texas Campus. One of the great advantages to living in these areas of Central Austin is the freedom to walk to local restaurants, bars, coffee houses and attractions. Some of my favorites downtown are Jo’s Coffee on 2nd St, Mean Eyed Cat on W 5th St, Paramount Theater, The State Theater, Emerald City Press, Whole Foods (I shop there every weekend) , Wheatsville Co-op, Favs on campus include Dirty’s, Toy Joy, Thai Kitchen on Guadelupe.
